We provide two software licensing models for cloud, one called SPLA to run applications on a private cloud and another called CSP to run Microsoft applications on their cloud – Azure.
SPLA licensing agreement acts as a rental agreement for Microsoft software licenses specifically designed for hosting companies and is based on a monthly contract that can flex up and down.
A CSP agreement allows you to rent Microsoft software on a monthly basis for such things as Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) and Azure cloud services, again on a monthly flex up/down basis.
With CSP your tenancy has all your cloud products and services in one place, which you can flex up or down. You are only charged for what you use – and there’s no commitment; you can enter or leave the subscription at any time. This is also true of SPLA licensing.
One bill showing the products used. There are no upfront costs nor any charges to leave the subscription for either licensing model.
You are entitled to the “latest and greatest” software released by Microsoft which is included as part of either agreement. The software can be used in any part of the world where distribution is legally allowed.
Software can be used free of charge for a limited period of time to test new offerings before going to market with them.
With CSP your license provider can provide product support but can also be escalated up within Microsoft.
Both models make it much easier to track your licence usage and help you maintain your software compliance.
